This
site is designed to help address the real needs of a growing segment
of our society afflicted with chronic debilitating illnesses. It is
centered on concern and compassion for individuals struggling, because
of an illness, with many of life's issues. It is especially directed
to the following: welfare of children; prevention of suicide; and
the reclaiming of a place for everyone in the fabric of human existence.
Whether through coincidence (which Mr. Beryl Wolk suggested was God's
way of staying anonymous), or simply an appreciation of a common humanitarian
thread, there now exists a team of diversely talented individuals
committed to working together primarily on behalf of others. Collectively,
we see the problems from the Scientific, Social and Spiritual perspectives.
What has been truly revealing is the manner with which we can potentially
integrate all three approaches by centering our concerns on the individual,
rather than on our own personal perspective. Those encumbered with
illnesses are entitled to regular food, respectable housing, affordable
medical care, meaningful education and a sense that serious research
is being undertaken to restore their health.
Diseases and physical handicaps should never have been identified
by commercial interests as primarily money making opportunities. To
a significant extent, medical practice has become a puppet of the
pharmaceutical industry. It is now largely a game of monopoly with
financial and recognition awards for those who participate and follow
certain rules. There can be no accusations of complacency, neglect
or cover up of those who make or enforce the rules governing medical
practice. No responsibility for illnesses until a profitable medicine
has been developed. And certainly, there should be no criticisms of
vaccines. Yet there is evidence of past contamination of polio vaccines.
A plausible argument exists that the use of contaminated polio vaccines
in Africa led to the development of the human immunodeficiency virus
(HIV) and AIDS. Public Health authorities were slow to respond to
the AIDS epidemic. It is similarly slow in providing for open discussion
of the current epidemic of brain damaging illnesses.
Because much of the information had already been assembled at a different
internet site, the major content of the S3Support site is currently
concerned with brain illnesses caused by viruses. The particular focus
is on viruses that lack the genes required for effective immunological
recognition. They have been termed "stealth" or "stealth-adapted"
viruses. These viruses can be compared to terrorists who shed their
military insignias to avoid detection by security forces.
